Avery Dennison PrismaPro Puts Color PPF on a Dry-Apply Clock

What’s new

Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions officially launched PrismaPro Color Paint Protection Film—an 8.5-mil TPU film that tries to win both the wrap aesthetic conversation and the rock-chip conversation in one SKU.

The install hook is IntelliTack, a pressure-activated adhesive system built for dry apply. That matters because most color PPF still lives in wet-apply habits that slow bays, train inconsistently, and punish shops that can’t hold temperature discipline.

PrismaPro dry-apply detail

Specs shops will get asked about

  • Thickness: 8.5 mil TPU defense (rock chip / debris framing)
  • Finish: self-healing top coat for light scratches with ambient heat
  • Warranty language: up to 10-year vertical coverage (confirm the exact vertical vs horizontal terms before you sell it)
  • Roll: 60" × 75' sized for full-vehicle coverage
  • Launch colors: 10 gloss / metallic options (Obsidian Black, White, Rock Grey, Dark Blue, Olive Green, Garnet Red, Purple, Silver, Gold, Midnight Sand)

Why installers should care this week

Color PPF is no longer a niche upsell. Customers comparing vinyl wrap vs protection are already hearing “why not both?” PrismaPro is Avery’s bid to own that middle: paint-like color + real film thickness + a dry-apply workflow that wrap shops can adopt without rebuilding the bay.

July hands-on training (St. Louis, Corona CA, greater Atlanta) includes a free roll for attendees. That’s not merch—it’s a conversion tool. If you send a lead tech, you come home with material and a shared install language.

Operator playbook

  1. Rewrite the wrap intake question. Ask: “Do you want color, protection, or both?” then map to vinyl vs color PPF vs clear PPF + wrap.
  2. Price the process, not just the film. Dry apply can cut cycle time—don’t give that away as a discount; bank it as margin or capacity.
  3. Book training if you sell color already. One free roll is useless without a documented temperature / stretch / edge protocol.
  4. Photograph edges and panels from the first three cars. Color PPF lives or dies on finish credibility in your market’s Instagram feed.

Bottom line

PrismaPro is a category move: Avery is telling wrap and PPF shops the same story. If you ignore color PPF this quarter, someone else will quote the “protection + color” ticket you left on the table.
