Software Is Becoming the New Shop Manager
Scheduling, inventory, approvals, and customer updates are migrating into systems. The managerial job is becoming architecture and exception handling.

As shops add bays and SKUs, informal management does not scale. Software becomes the coordination layer: who owns the job, what stage it is in, and what the customer was promised.
The minimum viable stack
A single source of truth for job state beats five apps that “kind of” sync. Pick boundaries: CRM owns comms; production owns bay board; accounting owns money movement.
Where humans still win
Escalations, film judgment calls, and relationship repair after a miss. Systems should route those faster, not hide them in a comment thread nobody reads.
Red flags in demos
Vendors that cannot explain offline failure modes, permissions for techs versus sales, and audit trails for pricing changes.
